Radiesse

Collagen is a vital protein that gives the skin its structure and elasticity. As the body ages, natural collagen breaks down, leaving the skin more vulnerable to the formation of wrinkles and lines. When this precious substance becomes more scarce, the skin begins to lose shape and creases form. Collagen replacement can help combat wrinkles and regenerate the skin. Today, there are safe and effective non-invasive procedures that can help boost volume and replenish lost supplies of collagen. Radiesse is a long-lasting, FDA-approved temporary dermal filler that can minimize the signs of aging. At our Bay Area location, we use a variety of techniques to achieve our signature non-surgical face lift. Our injection specialists use Radiesse to treat fill moderate to deep lines and wrinkles, add volume, lift drooping jowls, and improve the overall contour of the face.

How Radiesse works

Composed of calcium-based microspheres in an aqueous gel base, Radiesse works differently than hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm and Voluma. When injected, the biocompatible microspheres provide a subdermal structure to the skin, giving depleted areas an instant lift. The calcium-based microsphere scaffolding stimulates and supports collagen growth, laying the foundation for an ongoing regenerative effects. Over time, the body absorbs and breaks down the filler, leaving behind new collagen reserves. The skin will continue to appear refreshed and renewed for months to come.

Treatment overview

Radiesse treatments are fast, straightforward, and well-tolerated. During a treatment, a certified injection specialist will insert a fine needle into the skin and inject the smooth gel. As the gel enters the skin, it instantly volumizes. Compared to some other fillers, Radiesse requires less filler to achieve optimal results. To help reduce patient discomfort, Radiesse can be mixed with small amount of local anesthesia (lidocaine). Popular treatment areas include marionette lines, smile lines, the corners of the mouth, and wrinkles and sagging skin in the chin area. We perform Radiesse treatments at our Novato, CA location in Marin County.

Side effects and recovery

No downtime is necessary after Radiesse injections and patients can typically go back to their regular routines without delay. After an injection, patients may experience some swelling, tenderness, and minor bruising in the treatment area. These side effects are normal and usually subside within a day or two. Radiesse is considered a safe procedure with minimal risk of serious side effects.
