Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma® XC is a dermal filler that contains a unique formulation of hyaluronic acid specifically designed to lift and contour the cheeks. How Voluma works
All Juvéderm products contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that helps maintain moisture and nutrient levels in our skin. When dermal fillers containing HA are injected, they restore lost volume in the targeted, smoothing out wrinkles and providing a natural lift.
Juvéderm Voluma is unique because the HA has been cross-linked through a process called Vycross, which improves its lifting capacity and slows degradation of the product. Voluma tends to last twice as long as other HA fillers – some of our patients enjoy their results for up to two years! Voluma also contains lidocaine, which allows it to be injected more deeply into the cheek tissues without causing pain.
Treatment overview
All Voluma treatments are performed by Ariel Kirk, our nurse injector, or Dr. Delgado. Once the skin has been properly cleaned, a numbing cream or a local anesthetic may be administered. Then, our practitioner injects small amounts of Voluma at key locations in the cheek area. When the injections are complete, the product is shaped and molded to provide the exact contour desired in the cheek area. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
Side effects and recovery
Most of our patients feel comfortable resuming normal activities after their treatment. Some patients may experience short-lived side effects such as swelling, bruising or tenderness at the injection sites. Makeup can be carefully applied to cover any of these effects, but care must be taken not to manipulate the product beneath the skin during the first several hours. With Voluma, there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection because the active ingredient is identical to a substance found naturally in our skin.
Results
The results of Juvéderm Voluma can be seen immediately.
